Ms Liew Yen Lee is a Senior Nutritionist at Fonterra Brands (Malaysia) who is responsible for Anlene Brands and our bone health platform. She currently assists the Corporate Nutrition Manager in providing technical nutrition support and expertise to the Marketing and New Product Development teams.
Her role is to safeguard dairy product integrity, and deliver the healthy choice of Anlene products to Malaysian consumers. She is also responsible for disseminating credible and accurate nutrition messages and communication in order to promote bone health awareness among Malaysians.
On top of this, she also acts as an effective trainer who organises nutrition-related training sessions for internal staff and customers. As part of her responsibilities, she actively provides nutrition education to raise awareness of bone health among the general public; as well as people from external corporate companies, governmental sectors, higher learning institutes and schools.
Her lifelong passion for healthy eating and living well has inspired her to pursue a career as a nutritionist. She is a graduate of Universiti Putra Malaysia, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Community Health.
Annie is Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager for Innovation, based in Auckland, New Zealand. She has a qualification in human nutrition & dietetics from Otago University. Over the past 10 years she has held roles in public health, pharmaceuticals and the food industry. Annie has a background in nutrition and regulatory affairs enabling product development and innovation across a wide variety of geographies from the UK, to South East Asia, Greater China and the Middle East for Fonterra. Annie is responsible for managing a team who has a core focus on engaging with science and marketing professionals to develop strategies to bring to life the strong science that underpins the Anlene brand.
Joanne is the General Manager Innovation – Global Mobility for Fonterra Co-operative Group Ltd based in Auckland, New Zealand, managing a portfolio of health research and new product development projects to support the Anlene™ brand.
She studied nutrition at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand, completing her Masters in Science degree in Human Nutrition in 1993 which was obtained with distinction. She also subsequently completed an Advanced Certificate in Marketing, from the UK based Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Following her studies, Joanne prepared the background papers on the dietary requirements of pregnant and breastfeeding women, which were used by the New Zealand Ministry of Health in making dietary recommendations for these population groups.
Joanne has worked in several nutrition-based roles at Fonterra Brands for the last 20 years, combining science, regulatory and marketing activities. She is now managing a research-based portfolio of projects evaluating the health effects of dairy products with a focus on bone health. In addition she works with the marketing teams to develop and commercialise products and campaigns that communicate on the benefits of consuming dairy products to support bone health and mobility.
Joanne has spoken at several international symposiums discussing the benefits of dairy products on health, is the past Chair of the Nutrition Division of the NZ Institute of Food Science and Technology, and is a past council member of the Nutrition Society of NZ.
Linda is the Health Research Manager – Mobility for Fonterra Co-operative Group Ltd based in Palmerston North, New Zealand, responsible for the health research portfolio which provided science support for the Anlene™ brand.
She has a Science honours degree and a PhD in Microbiology & Immunology from Massey University, and has been an active researcher for over 40 years, with more than 60 published papers/conference presentations.
Linda spent her early career in both veterinary and medical research being involved in diagnostics, assay development, vaccine development and efficacy testing, bioactivity screening, epidemiology and public health. She also acted as a consultant in food assurance for microbiological safety, factory hygiene, trouble shooting and laboratory auditing.
She has worked in the Dairy industry for over 25 years – with a major emphasis on physiological effects and health benefits of dairy components and products. Her research has involved in vitro assays, in vivo animal studies, preclinical and clinical human studies and has covered aspects of immune modulation/passive immunity/anti-infective properties, gastrointestinal function, mineral bioavailability, blood pressure lowering peptides and most recently musculoskeletal (bones, joints and muscles) health.
During this time she was seconded to Massey University for 5 years to help form the Milk and Health Research Centre, which is now part of the Institute of Food, Nutrition and Human Health. She is still actively involved to a small extent in post-graduate teaching. Linda was part of the original team who developed the bone health platform for New Zealand Milk (now Fonterra’s Branded consumer business) and was an active member in much of the original bone research.
In her current role, she is responsible for new science-based innovations for Anlene™ – identifying and arranging assessment of potential new ingredients or technologies to measure musculoskeletal health benefits. This involves partnering with appropriate research providers for in vitro screening, animal studies, preclinical and human clinical trials. She is actively involved in understanding bone, muscle and joint biology; analysing science literature, patents etc. to identify innovative new ingredients, technologies and consumer communication opportunities; assessing the IP landscape; providing science advice and market support; designing trials, monitoring progress, interpreting results and then aiding the interface between scientific knowledge and business/marketing needs.
Much of her current work is at the interface between Anlene™ business needs and a network of external research providers who are vital for providing the credible, world leading.
